They added Yi Jianlian, Bobby Simmons, Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, Chris Douglas-Roberts, while only losing Richard Jefferson.

Not only did they get great prospects in Yi, Lopez, Anderson and Douglas-Roberts, but added a solid veteran (if healthy) in Simmons. And then you throw in the fact that they cleared a boatload of cap space to make a run at LeBron James in 2010, and the Nets had a big day. Jay-Z and Bron may be tag-teaming in Jersey in a few years after all.

New Jersey Nets Grade: A-

Round 1: Brook Lopez (10), Ryan Anderson (21)

Round 2: Chris Douglas-Roberts (39)

Analysis: The Nets had a really big day. First they moved Richard Jefferson in a deal that brought them Yi Jianlian and something that might be more important: cap relief. As we know, LeBron James can become a free agent in 2010, and his friend Jay-Z, a Nets co-owner, will be preparing the welcome mat for King James. Then the team added a couple of other important assets on draft night. Lopez won't be great, but at No. 10 he's a value pick as a center who can score around the basket. Douglas-Roberts is much better than his draft position suggests -- he should've been a late first-rounder. I'm more skeptical about Anderson. Like Yi, he's a face-the-basket 4, so his selection seems redundant to me. Then again, I'm not sure at No. 21 there was anyone much better.

The Nets have a history of selecting Pac-Ten guys and continued with that trend by adding bigmen standouts Lopez and Anderson. Both are solid picks where they were taken and should provide an instant contribution. CDR was the biggest slider of the draft falling to the 40th pick. The post-Jason-Kidd rebuilding era is off to a fine start. However, the final grade can't be accurately tallied until the summer of 2010. The LeBron James Fire Sale began just prior to the draft when Kiki Vandeweghe sent Richard Jefferson to Milwaukee for Yi Jianlian, Bobby Simmons and a ton of future cap space. Yi makes a lot of sense on a marketing level with the team's plans to move to NYC.

Grade: A-minus

Nets—Winner: No one look away from the Nets.

They got a back court of Harris and Carter with a group of talented young players. Yi Jianlian (aquired for Jefferson) is a player who can spread the floor and be a scorer for them at the three-spot.

Ryan Anderson can do the same off the bench. Boone, Kristic, and Williams are all solid front court players, but Brook Lopez is the big body they needed.

He handled the college level and will make his way to be one of best big-men in the league.

With a steal in CDR, the Nets bench is also now really good. The Nets are going to be a playoff team and a contender for the LeBron sweepstakes in 2010.

Marty Blake | Blake’s Take | NBA.com

Brook Lopez – He could start for New Jersey. He’s going to be a better defensive player than people think. New Jersey really added some size in this draft, and Lopez should turn out to a nice player for them.

Ryan Anderson – Put up some great numbers in the Pac-10. This is a tough kid who should play in the NBA for a long time.

Chris Douglas-Roberts – He’s a slasher. He can take the ball to the basket. He should fit in nicely in New Jersey.
